Although people move for one reason or another that does not mean they enjoy the experience. A major move is costly, time consuming and more often than not; a frustrating experience. There are numerous ways to mitigate the issues, some of which are often overlooked.

Don’t “go with the flow”
The end of the month is the time when many things are “wrapped up.” If you are changing jobs, it all takes place in the last week of one month and the first week of the next, the result is these are the busiest times for Rochester moving companies. Go out of your way to plan your move in the middle of the month.

The same holds true for the summer months as this is the time when children are out of school for their summer break. If at all possible, move in the spring or fall. If there is no option and you have to move in the summer at least avoid the major breaks such as the 4th of July and Labor Day.

Try to work around what is best for the mover:
In any service industry, and moving is one, you will get better results if you work with the schedule that suits the mover best. When you are dealing with Rochester moving companies you are dealing with the availability of skilled people and equipment. If your mover say’s it is possible to work around what you want but it would be better to set the schedule for the next day; take their suggestion, you can be almost guaranteed of the best crew and equipment.

Take “full-value” insurance:
Rochester moving companies are obliged to give basic insurance coverage, it amount to 60 cents per pound per item. Think this through, a typical flat screen TV might weigh 35 pounds and cost upwards of $500. If it is somehow damaged during the move you will be given $18 dollars compensation; not good.

A relatively inexpensive upgrade is available. Full value replacement cover is something that is offered by the best professional movers and is worth every penny of it.

Moving will never be stress free, but by paying attention to a few logistical suggestions it can move along like a well oiled machine.
